The Bank of Hindostan issued old banknotes of India from 1779 to 1832. Early banknotes of India were circulated separately for the three presidencies Bombay, Bengal and Madras. The Bank of Bengal issued Old Currency notes known as Commerce Notes a vignette of an allegorical female figure representing 'commerce'.
